The Achievements Of The Nobel Peace Prize - 1906 Words

Winning the Nobel Peace Prize is an amazing feat and accomplishments that very few people receive. Only two US presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, and Barack Obama have received the award. Roosevelt was the first ever American to win this award. His life story and eventful experiences help shape him as the person we recognize as an impactful person in history. Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27th of 1858 into a Dutch family living in New York. As a child, he struggled with his asthma. Many of his family members called him â€Å"Teddy†, a name he wasn’t found of. However, that name latched on until people used his nickname to make a toy many of us are familiar with, a Teddy Bear. His father, Theodore Roosevelt Sr., knew he was very intelligent but thought he did not have the body to match. He told him to make his body by exercising, so young Theodore did and became stronger. This led him to gain an interest in wrestling and weightlifting. When Theodore became a teenager he also became interested in gymnastics and continued to enjoy sports into his college years and beyond. Roosevelt went to Harvard College and spent 4 years there. At Harvard, he studied natural science as his major at first, however when his father died he switched his major to law. He excelled in sports and education and found a good balance between th e two. Roosevelt had an interesting and influential family that helped him be the person we know starting with his first child. How to Write a Nursing Essay

How to Write a Nursing Essay? The main purpose of a nursing essay (or, more exactly, nursing school admission essay) is to make the committee that will read and study it believe that you are going to make an excellent nurse; and not only excellent, but better that the majority of those who submitted similar essays at the same time with you. Although there are not so many nurses working in the health care system, and there is constant need of more, the nursing schools are still very selective about whom to accept and whom to refuse. It is hardly surprising, for there is hardly any other sphere where an incompetent may cause harm. However, it is none of your concern. Your concern is to get through, and ours is to help you do it. First and foremost, concentrate on personal experience. There are many applicants and they all present similar essays. The best thing to stand out of the crowd is to say something nobody else will be able to say. But, for God’s sake, don’t write about a heroic nurse you once have seen and who have let you understand that it is you goal in life to be like her. There is no better way to write something extremely trite and clichà ©d than to think along these lines. If there is something wrong with your academic record, don’t try to conceal it or avoid talking about it. State the reason why it happened that way, make them sure that it was due to a certain unique event and not because of your general sloppiness in studies. Don’t make open pleas and don’t try to provoke pity – it is most likely to make an unfavorable impression. Remember that you are going to work in a capacity that doesn’t presuppose revolutionary changes in your sphere of work. Don’t say what you are going to make different, what are your views on the health care system and so on; just make them believe you will be really good in this vocational choice.

The model’s circular face is embedded with lonely points for eyes and a logical expression that IS dry and without tedious emotions. When we draw close to it, we feel like we are lost in a barren dessert. There we step into a sea of sand, dazed by the mirages of different types of questions which make us flounder hopelessly to find our direction. Although our survival desire is strong, we are too often too lethargic to stand up and confront our delusions of grandeur. Every time when I attended math class, I was scared to step into the classroom. Why? Not all Asians are geniuses at math; at least I am the one who is not. The math terminology spoken out from the math teacher was an alien language that blew through my ears and left a breeze in my brain but no knowledge manned. The problem or test I got from the math class was like a blank puzzle, but had no idea how to solve it. I finally find the way to solve this problem. I realized that there was no way that I could solve this problem or test; so I quit. Coming to the U. S. Gave me a second chance to retake the math, and I appreciate this chance. With a speeding heartbeat, I walked into my first math class (MAT 120) at MAC. In my mind, felt a bunch of questions swirling like a whirlwind around in my brain. I imagined that I heard a devil’s choice shouting out with a contemptuous laugh, â€Å"You think you will understand the math in English? There’s no way! † In my deepest mind, a voice burst out like a volcano, and the energy flowed into every cell of my body: â€Å"In the future, do not look back and view your life with regret; do the best you can now so that you can look forward to a promising future. † â€Å"Challenge accepted! † I told myself. Every class when I listen to the lesson, my ears start to translate the instructor’s words, and save information into my memory area. I do not skip the difficult problems. I read the book to understand the examples, ask friends, teachers, and tutors questions about what I do not fully understand to help me boost my knowledge. Spend whole afternoons working with tutors and studying in the math center to finish my homework. Gradually, the way American instructors teach me becomes like a sparkling rope that guides me in the right direction as take the long, dark journey to conquer math. The method that tutors taught me like a sword of wisdom to help me eliminate the math enemies. I realize that I enjoy the moment when my pen writes out the right answers to problems. I enjoy seeing those numbers dance with cheerful rhythm to celebrate their lively show in the realistic world. In that moment, I know that I have learned how to treat math as a part of my life, not a weirdo model that I am scared to touch. When I received the highest score after finishing my first math class at MAC, I was crying and laughing. The complex emotions I felt were like a salad mixed with different ingredients, full of sweet, sour, spicy, and bitter tastes. Challenges are monsters if people are too scared to confront them and convert them onto allies. Challenges are only fortunate if people embrace them as they are, accept the responsibility to grow to deserve them, and dedicate themselves to making them a vibrant part of their lives. Then, in old age, people can look back upon their lives and see how the path that they have taken has led them upward to a mountain top. From this summit, they can view the distant valleys and say to themselves, â€Å"l have followed a good path, have kept the Way, and I have achieved my goals. I have lived a good life. Now, look forward to my next challenge. † How to cite My words of Wisdom, Papers

Atticus As A Model Parent Essay Example For Students

Atticus As A Model Parent Essay In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee suggests that Atticus is a model parent. Atticus gives guidance to Jem and Scout, and he treats them with fairness and honesty. He tries to bring them up as best he can as a single parent. Atticus is always guiding Jem and Scout with advice so that they will become more compassionate people. Atticus sets a good example for the children when Mr Ewell confronts him. Even though he is provoked and insulted, Atticus simply has a peaceful reaction. This shows the children never to get into fights with people when they are upset about something. Atticus shows children about courage and all the forms it appears in. When Jem is told to read for Ms Dubose and she dies, Atticus explains to Jem about her morphine addiction, and how she died free. This shows Jem that courage isnt always where you expect to find it, and that if you have some compassion, you see people for who they really are. The most important piece of advice he gives his children is that you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view until you climb into his skin and walk around in it. This is important for the children to know, because it helps them to be more caring people , and they use this advice throughout the novel. Atticus treats everyone with fairness. He always hears both sides of the story. He does this after Scout has gotten into a fight with Francis Hancock. After a time Atticus hears Scouts side of the story and realises that it wasnt totally Scouts fault. Scout also tells Uncle Jack that when she and Jem get into fights Atticus stops to hear both sides of the argument before placing the blame, if any. When he is confronted by awkward issues Atticus never tries to hide or cover up the truth. He tells Uncle Jack at Finches landing that when a child asks you something, answer him, for goodness sake. After Atticus is confronted by the mob outside the county jail, he doesnt try to pretend that they werent there to hurt him. He admits that Mr Cunningham might have hurt me a little. When Scout asks Atticus if they are poor, the usual response would be to say no, so as not to scare Scout. But Atticus believes honesty is the best policy, so he says, we are indeed. Atticus considers lying horribly dishonest, so he tries to be truthful at all times with his children. Atticus is a model parent. He loves his children more than anything in the world, and he does as much as he can to bring them up as respectable people. He may not be able to play football with all the other fathers, but he has all the qualities a good parent could hope to have.
